Students learn basic anatomy and will begin to develop an understanding of the way a figure inhabits space; thus able to successfully reproduce this space in two dimensions. The goal of the course is to learn academic, realistic representation of the figure: Emphasis will be on accurately rendering the figure on the page in proper proportion. Students work up to developing a personal style within the confines of academic figurative art.
Lisa Frank style. Color pencil. Color choice is a fantasia-esque palate that works well with the background choice. Obviously very pretty, refined, almost has a photoshopped airbrushed skin tone. With technique like this its time to be thinking at the concept level.
Great color! Face looks photographically real aside from color background adds a dimensional element to the composition and informs viewer about your style Great highlights in hair Why so small?
Despite continuing in the trend of colorful female self-portraits, completely unexpected in its extravagance and meticulousness. Quite a successful composition...on a larger scale (time permitting) this would be very, very striking.
An excellent use of color and demonstrates the vibrancy of the choices made extremely well. Nice rendering with the medium of choice! I'm sort of reminded of tattoos when I see this :)
I love the mixture of unrealistic colors with realistic rendering/proportions. The background is a little distracting even though I love the shapes and colors, maybe making the shapes larger and more spread out it would lead the viewer's eyes straight to yours instead of moving away from the figure.
Your color choices are beautiful. Successful use of pattern in the composition, the softness of the face is balanced by the boldness of the patterns. Very nice. Also one of my favorites!
Her art has a very playful feel in this work. I enjoy the texture and shading that was created in the hair, giving it a realistic look. The portrait does show a good resemblance of Jean. I appreciate the color palette choice and abstract work in the background. It gives personality to her portrait.
Awesome swirls and shapes in the background. Has a somehow very "genuine" seeming ethnic or "other" feel to it - maybe it's the bright colors. Great likeness, looks just like you.
I want this to be like 5x bigger - poster size. It's really beautiful with all of the color; the gradient in your hair is really striking to me.

ReplyDeleteGreat use of colors and compliments. It is really small though and I would love to see a bigger drawing.

ReplyDeleteVery colorful and energetic. Recognizable in nature. Maybe a bit more shadow values in the face to help with depth. Lots of fun to look at!
