Crystal SELF PORTRAIT

  1. I wish you drew your dimples! I think your face is rounder in real life than in the drawing. The quality of shading in your shirt and on your skin is beautiful - so soft, I can almost really feel it!

  2. Beautifully rendered piece. Nice balance between lights and darks and there is a lovely texture to the composition. The eraser marks really gave dimension to your hair.

  3. Super super slick gradation of tone really looks nice. Hair might be a little darker over all, with just a few light shards but it reads as is. Stage-Left eye, inside curve, comes up at a steep angle sharply, not swooping down in even foreshortened curve. That might be where you’re having that problem you mentioned.

  4. Lovely rendering! Nice composition. Try pushing the darks more to get shadow blocking which might help with any proportional issues you talked about.

  5. Beautiful rendering, and very neatly done. The velvety texture that you achieved is amazing. Could not tell it was you right away, but really beautiful.

  6. Defies all lines. The hand (quite literally, as a matter of fact) and the tools of the artist are invisible...as if willed into being telekinetically.

  7. Your picture is beautiful. It’s rendered almost to picture quality. The composition is nice also.

  8. Your rendering of materials are so convincing and very accurate on depicting these different types of surfaces (skin/cloth/hair/etc). A very textural self portrait and it definitely reflects the drawings you've done in class thus far. An overall success in using the material to its max potential. Super good :)

  9. Amazing rendering and highly realistic, you lose a little of your personality without a slight hint of your dimples, but amazing work otherwise.

  10. This is a very nice representation of your work and how detail oriented you are as an artist, which by the way is wonderful! You have really captured not only your likeness but the textures of your skin and the fabric. This is a beautiful piece, nice job!

  11. Crystal’s self-portrait almost looks like a photograph. The shading on the shirt was great. Her hair has depth and the flesh has good shading as well. I wish she would have included her glasses in the drawing because I identify her with glasses. This addition would have added more of her personality to the drawing.

  12. Awesome clothing and hair. The hair is really amazing actually. I know you say you can only draw cartoon style, but this is Very realistic. Cartoons rock by the way. I wish I could do cartoon style.

  13. Excellent value blending. Photo-realism. Proportions of right arm seem off. Nice job overall.
