LONG-POSE FIGURE STUDY

  1. I like the muted tones, it makes for very realistic skin tones. I really love the piece altogether. The shadows and highlights are very effective. There is very nice weight to the body. The only suggestion that I can offer is to raise the corner of the left side of the mouth slightly. Awesome work.

  2. Depth is successfully rendered through the use of shadows and highlights-there appears to be several planes of space in the composition

Highlights are consistent with regards to luminosity and color- I can tell where the light is coming from

Beautiful detail in the figure- I would have liked to see more detail in the foreground furniture-If you had more time :)

  3. Great composition and colors. It reminds me of a classic painting in the Renaissance. You used pure hues really well to create natural lights and shadows.

She looks realistic but her face looks a little off with placement of the facial features.

    Wonderful piece.

  4. I really love the warm pallet that you chose! The skin looks luminous against the fabric. I loved that you used so many colors in this piece but still achieved that warm glow. Great job on the face too!

  6. You did a really awesome job in rendering the forms on the model! It was interesting to see your process as it seemed like you were treating the oil in a watercolor approach with thin layers. In the end, you have a nice quality of texture and you can really read the flesh-like surface on your painting. I think the previous painting’s background really adds a lot to your composition and the addition of your own drapery (on the right) in the composition really ties everything together. The only thing I would add is more darks in the occlusion shadow areas—otherwise, everything is fine!

  7. You did some amazing oil work with the flesh tones and shadowing. The face is off proportionally, but everything else looks great. Excellent piece! :D Also, I really love the flesh tones and the texture.

  9. I think you did a good job of resolving the angle consistency of the shadows throughout your piece. I enjoy your color palate, tonal variation and composition. She looks regal and stately, like a formal portrait should. The muted colors are a nod to her calm demeanor and persistent patient gaze.

  10. I like the use of neutral greens, yellows and reds and there is a nice use of highlights to make the figure stand apart from the background.

  11. The kind of primary colors you used are rich and clean and next to the green and offset with the light yellow/gold on her skin is so effective. This whole piece is luminous.

  12. I love your work, even though the color pallet for the figure and the background are very similar there is a lot of contrast which is hard to do. I love the abstract and soft quality of the background and fabrics. Overall it's beautiful .

  13. A rather sensual composition, with nice cropping and placement, and a consistent and pleaseing colour scheme.

  14. Nice blending - really looks like skin. I think overall it could use some more areas of strongest contrast. Beautiful shading and value on the legs and stomach, makes them look very 3D. The hand is beautiful.
