LONG-POSE FIGURE STUDY

  1. I really like the colors in the body. The proportions are off a little on the hands and feet. What helps me is to remember that the feet are as large as the forearm and the hands are almost as big as the face. These are the areas that I struggle most with. I would have liked to see the same color and strokes in the whole composition. The bright colors are awesome.

  2. All the colors are saturated, creating consistency throughout

The proportions are a tad large, with regards to the head and the feet- However, as a result it has a surreal, Where the Wild Things Are, type quality that I really enjoy

The brushstrokes used to compose the figure are very successful- I would have liked to see more detail in the couch-If we had more time :)

  3. This is one of my favorite pieces. I love the face and disproportional blocky rendering of the figure. The colors are exciting and great too.

This is a really cool painting. I don't think it succeeds at depicting the figure in a natural sense, but it's still beautiful. The composition is lovely.

  4. Nice use of bright color. You seem to have had issues with proportions, but it is stylistically great. I love the high contrast of this piece, both in your use of almost black darks and bright whites in the body, and in your use of complimentary color. The saturated color really works throughout this peice.

  5. I enjoy the nice contrast of the cool highlights against the figure’s warm flesh tones. I would say that the torso needs to be elongated slightly and that the head should be scaled down a bit. Your use of color is successful especially with the complimentary yellow background with the purple/violet in the figure’s hair.

  7. The overall figure has good proportions; the feet may be a little big, showing her as a Wild Side character. Effective use of dark on the thighs and fearless yellow. Brave and bold painting.

  8. I wasn't sure about the bright yellow background at first, but once I saw the finished product I really liked it! I was also surprised at how fast and accurately you put in the couch and cushions. Your color choices and style is great!

  9. For your proportion concerns, return to measuring carefully and study the gesture/figure before laying down paint. Face is a little large on the head, and the head is only a little too big. Feet are exaggerated but so are the forearms, so really maybe all you need is as slightly larger torso to resolve all the issues. Overall the couch position and integration with the model are great.

  10. I love the use of purples, orange and blues, however the proportions are very strange mostly the nose, hands, and feet.

  11. Compositionally a little strange and propositions could be addressed a little more. The color pallet is very effective and lovely. Your brushstrokes are very nice as well, good job.

  12. Beautiful face - my favorite face here. It's like a David Hockney. Nice proportions, although the head is a bit large, but it looks like it was done that way purposefully. Very nice, strong work on the breasts and arms as well. Good choice of background color; I like how it's seamless with the floor.

  13. This style also strikes me as strangely familiar. And it takes the prize on this outing for Most Crazy. It's quite nice to look at, and you really found an appropriate way to handle the furniture.
