LONG-POSE FIGURE STUDY

  1. I really like your stylistic approach. I would have liked to see more darks in the figure. The eyes look very nice. The proportions seem off but fit very nicely stylistically.

  2. Highlights read well, but I would have liked to see more shadows on the figure's body and on the couch- If only there had been more time :)

The face is beautifully rendered, particularly the eyes, some of that detail is lost in the legs

I think it was a good choice to leave part of the background showing- it gives your piece a surreal quality that I like

  3. Awesome rendering technique. I love the stylistic choices you made with the figure. The composition is really strong with your handling of the figure juxtaposed with the original background of the canvas.

I do notice the flat shoulders but I personally like how they are flat and stylized.

    Great painting.

  4. I like your choice of color. Proportions are off, but big block shapes of the body are effective stylistically. Nice detail in the face, but would have liked to see this carried throughout.

  5. The figure in this piece is gorgeous and the color of the skin is so radiant! I enjoy the stylistic approach and the face is beautifully rendered. I also enjoyed that you incorporated the painting that was already there, love this!

  6. this portrait has a cartoon look about it because of the enlarged head. the flesh tone is nice!

  7. I really enjoyed the way you rendered the figure—especially the legs. You have a nice intense orange/yellow on her flesh that resembles the exact lighting situation that was present in class. I’m not quite sure if the left side of the image is intentional to look ‘unfinished’ or if it is unfinished but I enjoy that loose quality as it sets a nice contrast to the tightly rendered sections of the piece. The slight stylization in the features of her face is also an interesting thing to note—it sort of reminds me of a Japanese anime character :3. Good job!

  8. Great coloring and shadowing, and superb touch with the background choice.

  9. You have a gorgeous face, so much so that it feels more finished than some other parts. Nice use of incorporating the reality of the situation, including all the background elements.

  10. I like the anatomically inspired upper body, the way you connected the entire neck with the chest through the orange and the whole composition where she sits in it, and the background being dark grey and having an event happening in the near distance. Beautiful turquoise and red contrast. I also am intrigued with your style. Beautiful.

  11. Your proportions are a little off, the head is a bit big. Your face is very lovely, and the skin is well rendering. The shoulder are a little rounded and appear shrugged, but it's not distracting. Very beautiful composition! Well done

  12. Shading on neck and shoulders needs some rearranging to read right, but overall the shading is amazing. Great placement of high contrast areas. Beautiful face. Red blanket is awesome. I like how the previous painting shows through in background; it really works. Beautiful legs. Probably the strongest painting here really.

  13. Another very surprising portrait. If there were 16 paintings done, then there were 16 different women portrayed: it's true, this is not the face of our model...it's another character--but a very striking one. The smoothly blended tones are quite nice--in the legs, they're exquisite. If the bright blue is carried through to the horizon of the background and the stray orange lines removed, this will be a great painting.
