  1. Master
Near perfect render of the original
    Tonal variations differed slightly
Details and proportions are very precise

    Figure
    Extremely successful style match
    Why just legs?

  2. Your master copy is done beautifully. Darks could be pushed a bit more. The master study is nice as well but I would have liked to see a full body. The darks and lights that you put in your study really work and look very much like Golucho’s

  3. The realism is definitely there, and the shading looks absolutely great in both drawings. Great job Mike!

  4. As always, superbly rendered copy. The assignment directly staated that backgrounds werent important. For a piece like this though, so much of the subject's shading is dependent upon his surroundings that it would have benefited greatly to be standing against more accurately shaded background. Original lacks the rest of body and appears unlike the master (based on the one example provided). It feels incomplete.

  5. I would like to see darker darks to create more of a contrast on the legs instead of the midtones of a graphite pencil but overall great mark making.

As usual, the pencil work is very fine and meticulous--the photorealism of the master work being suited to his style. Despite the present effectiveness of his value range--as in the original--a few more degrees of darkness would help with dimensionality. ...The original piece, however, cannot be said to really emulate the master's style--based as it here is upon strong characterization--since there is no definable character to speak of.

  7. I think your master study was beautifully rendered. I would have liked to see a whole figure for your second drawing but I know how difficult that would have been. Possible a more detailed section of the body would have been more effective.
