Students learn basic anatomy and will begin to develop an understanding of the way a figure inhabits space; thus able to successfully reproduce this space in two dimensions. The goal of the course is to learn academic, realistic representation of the figure: Emphasis will be on accurately rendering the figure on the page in proper proportion. Students work up to developing a personal style within the confines of academic figurative art.
Your inspired piece turned out really great, you totally captured Schiele’s style without seeming forced which is hard, there was an ease to it that I liked. Nice distorted preportions, would have liked to see more darks in the hair to emphasize it even more.
Excellent study and translation of the original’s medium to your use of charcoal is successful. The line work in your applied study stays true to Schiele’s “loose” approach and the added perspective in your piece adds more depth.
I loved the artist and the piece that Danni selected to work with for this project. The twisted body and the hair make the portrait interesting and add character. Danny’s own drawing of her boyfriend did capture the elements found in the original piece. She could have elaborated more on the hair to make the style more in fitting with Schiele. Proportions and contour lines looked fine and the two pieces complement each other.
Copy does a good job of mimicing the contour line/illustration quality. Hair locals tend to be dark, so the head on your Original is too light. Also the musculature could be more eradic; note the arm in comparrison to one another.
One of my favorite pieces! The Master copy is stunning in both line work and in use of contrast. Your Master study is also successful in replicating the contour line work of your master, however, it could use some more darks here and there. Great job!
Your study figure could be a little looser with the contour lines, exaggerating sharp edges of the figure, and I love the size of the feet compared to the rest of your figure.
"Egon Schiele" One of the most accurate copies--in line quality and in overall presentation--especially when taking into account the rather unnatural drawing style. The medium chosen was ideal for the bold style of execution. In the original, some of the cartoonishness is recognizable and put to good effect, though it could use a bit more of the master's idiosyncracy.
Good job. The values were really nice great positioning choices on your second drawing, gave it a lot of character. I love the feet and their position on the page, so effective.
