  1. You did a great job with master copy, this looks very similar to Kollwit's work. Your interpretation is also very nice. Great job carying her mark making into this peice, I love the focus on fabric in both.

  2. Applied study is done in Kollwitz’s style in a flawless manner. I could seriously see it as part of a series alongside Kollwitz’s sketches. I can tell that you learned a lot from doing the study to be able to apply her technique to your piece.

  4. Amazing. Both works look very similar. Good shadowing and strong lines make both drawings look very realistic. There is an emotional impact that is rendered in each of the pieces that provide the same emotion of gloom. Crystal did a good job in creating the spirit of Kollwitz’s technique and dark themes.

  5. The Copy is successfully replicated tonally. However you're right the original looks loose, as though it was done in minutes with only a few strokes of broad charcoal. In the same vein, your Study looks gorgeous on its own, but based on the example provided it should be more spontaneous and less precise.

  6. These two pieces are so strong, both in composition and in replicating stylistic qualities of your chosen Master. Your Master copy seems to be a bit more loose and less refined than you Master study, but both look like they could come from the same sketchbook! Amazing!

  8. "Kollwitz II"
    The master's style is easily discerned, but the copy is a little lacking. The original is nice in itself but hardly thematically linked--except should you arrive, stream-of-consciousness, from dress to dress...which is to say, I just doubt that Kollwitz would have drawn such a pensive and, more or less, elegant young lady--except were there a dead child or two at her feet.
